This June, Greensboro invited Cooper Carey – The Center for Connective Architecture, which had developed the 2002 Greensboro Center City Plan, back to Greensboro to relook at downtown and the original vision. Richard Flierl and the other Cooper Carey designers took a guided tour of the catalytic projects implemented in downtown over the last 10 years as direct and indirect result of the Center City Plan. Following the tour, Cooper Carey participated in two full days of listening sessions with the Mayor, City Council, City staff and key stakeholders to understand goals, objectives and potential projects under consideration in downtown. Their listening session became the basis for defining the Greensboro 2022 recommendations.
Included in the 2022 Visioning is a recommendation to:
- Utilize container restaurants and food trucks as low cost, low risk incubators for new food and beverage establishments.
